Tracing the Causes of Stress in Families with Handicapped Children
Jonathan Bradshaw has been a research fellow in the Department of Social Administration and Social Work at York University since 1973. Before that he was a lecturer in the same department.
Dorothy Lawton has been a research fellow in the Department of Social Administration and Social Work at York University since 1976.
Summary
Variations in the level of stress in mothers with very severely disabled children do not appear to be associated with the characteristics of the disabled child or the social and economic circumstances of the family. The level of stress in a sample of mothers did not change after they had received help from the Family Fund.
