Using a Unitary Approach in Student Placements
Rosslyn Webber is a graduate of Hull University and completed her social work training at Liverpool University. She has worked in Chester as a psychiatric social worker and in Portsmouth where she held a joint appointment between the Polytechnic's Social Work Course and Hampshire Social Services Department. Since undertaking the course in Educational Studies at the National Institute for Social Work in 1976, she has taken up a position of Student Unit Supervisor with Wiltshire Social Services Department.
Summary
This paper is an attempt to think through the use of a unitary approach in the supervision of students, in particular within student units. It considers separately the beginning phase of any placement, first and second placements and develops the concept of a team model by which to run the unit.
